Ashes to ashes...

I watch another year come and go
the final embers glow
as it burns down and snuffs out,
joining all the others
in a pile of spent ash.

The promise of a bright, clear tomorrow
still as elusive as smoke on the wind.

  5. Ginny,
Our poems share a phrase this week! This is a fitting valedictory to what must surely be a problematic year for many. Let's hope the smoke clears and that tomorrow comes happily to all. Happy New Year!

  14. I think we all feel this, or think this at the turn of the year...makes us reflect upon what has passed that we didnt expect, and what we can expect, or the things we wont expect to see in the new one...its easy to get dragged don by 'what if's'...but you cant let them...WE cant let them

  16. Sometimes it does seem like that bright clear day will never come, no matter the time of year. Best we can do is try to get there, no matter the crap that comes due at our lair.
