We operate in misdirection
and paint ourselves in subterfuge
our feelings hid in metaphor
in codes and ciphers, subtle clues
while we chase ‘chimeras’ in the dark
to avoid the risk of being bruised
tiptoeing around the truth
mindful of each word we choose
–it’s better not to know than lose.
