Both blinded by the rage within—
my words, a knife
to penetrate
to slash; to watch exsanguinate.
You tore away the underpin
your words cajole —I lose control;
no holding back…no
discipline.
You volley to eviscerate—
both blinded by the rage within.

Love the journey this poem took me on. Your use of strong "e" words made me smile.... even the collage of "exsanguinate" - a word I had never seen in use before - mesmerized my mind. Thank you!

ReplyDeleteexsanguinate
ReplyDeletesuch a powerful coinage that alludes to bloodshed yet doesnt make it seem as gory. Pretty powerful.
Admire the form and the way words come alive with knife, slash, tore, volley ~
ReplyDeleteGood to see you Ginny ~ Hope you are well ~
Wow! This is absolutely riveting...!
ReplyDeleteThis is so evocative and true to the form. You have me feeling the underlying rage. So good to see you, Ginny.

ReplyDeleteSometimes loosing the floodgates is the thing that can finally bring the emotions under control again. When both are raging it can be scary...
ReplyDeletethe anger is palpable - words can be the cruelest weapons
ReplyDeleteYou absolutely crushed this prompt! And I'm not just saying that because I had to go google "exsanguinate" (BTW: I LOVE new words and can't wait to play with that one, so thank you!)
ReplyDeleteIt flowed extremely well and the journey was tense and poignant. Really enjoyed this.
Whew. Powerful words here, and a nice prompt mashup.
ReplyDeleteStrong writing....you have captured the interaction between the two.
ReplyDeleteYou put us inside the action - the point of view exact and the use of form - PERFECT!
ReplyDeleteSome very intense verbs.."exsanguiante" and "eviscorate" made this more than just an average quarrel. The use of the form was precise but read so smoothly.
ReplyDeleteWow! Rage can be exactly that! Mish was bang on about your powerful been choice too.
