How do you describe someone
with a depth of thought,
emotions etched inside his words,
and a heart worn on his sleeve?
We hang on the snapshots of his life…
the
love, the anger, the hope,
the
dreams, the joys and sorrows…
We follow him down sunny paths
and
decaying streets
and see
life through eyes
both
jaded and ever hopeful…
For his story is our own...
we recognize ourselves in it—
and we are touched and
changed forever in the reading.
and we are touched and
changed forever in the reading.

wow!!! This poem is perfect and well said.
ReplyDeleteI give your brilliance if writing here two-thumps up!
You spoke from the heart and thank you for writing this incredible piece. :)
very tender write, Ginny... great play on the photos that make the entire picture complete
ReplyDeletesmiles...we are always changed by the way our stories intertwine and interact with one another...he is us...and we him...and we figure it out as we go along....smiles.
ReplyDeleteLove your take on the prompt. Your words match the picture perfectly.
ReplyDeleteIt began with the story tellers who became writers, where technology was just ash & chalk on a cave wall; somehow now, as writers reading writers, absorbing & deflecting the technology prone to swallowing us up, we still tell those old stories from our perspective, & readers still recognize their own humanity in our language; how cool is that?
ReplyDeleteso much responsibility to be a writer... i liked the gentleness in this
ReplyDeleteI do too !
DeleteHis story is also our own journey ~ And that ending lines are so true, we are also touched by reading and commenting ~ Thanks for participating Ginny ~ Happy New Year ~
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, "his" story is our own, and so often we find something in another person's words to identify with. When that happens, it is magic indeed!
ReplyDeleteI like the progression in your poem - how we first believe we are looking at a total stranger, until you lead us to realize we are that stranger.
ReplyDeleteI like how this image evoked a soft, tender poem for you. I used the same image, but I do not think it led to similar tenderness … smiles… Your image of seeing life through eyes both jaded and ever hopeful is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteOthers touch us, inspire us, convince us we can be more than we are
ReplyDeleteOh, very nice. I think you described well.

Reading the stories and poems can indeed change us. Well said.
ReplyDeleteTraveling down the path seeing the world through an artist's eyes and expanding our own perspective.
ReplyDeleteCool write....about the writer(s)!
ReplyDelete"his story is our own"...neat perspective on viewing the lives of others...and hopefully we ARE changed when we see what makes up another person.
ReplyDeleteoh so true... that is what a good writer does.. pulls us right into the center of the story, of their life... it is fascinating and magical when that happens
ReplyDeleteI like this.. A writer collecting images exactly like this.. We need to see all all thise little parta and build it up slowly.
ReplyDeleteWe really feel with the writer wherever he takes us....nice flow.
ReplyDeleteAh.. yes.. we are all one at core.. and the writings of others.. often brings a path not yet traveled.. but soon to come..:)
ReplyDeleteWhen reading most writers, I think we often sneak inside their world view--what a gift, especially to us as writers ( or would-be writers.)
ReplyDelete"For his story is our own"...I think there is a part of us in everybody. I really enjoyed this.
ReplyDeletesometimes we are diverted, but how often do we course "correct", back to our original path, after finishing reading? ~
ReplyDeleteThis is great Ginny, with especially strong closing lines.
