Odd Lots #4: On Closed Minds...

There are no open discussions
between closed minds.

Wormholes

As night wanes into predawn light,
I dream-slip holes through time and space
where past and present interlace,

and for a moment we retrace
the fervent fire…the sweet desire;
we coalesce in youth's embrace—

till morning rays again erase...
as night wanes into predawn light.

Missing Key

Charleston farmhouse door.

This door was locked so long ago…

Can remember when it swung wide…
infused with youthful freedom,
we chased our whims with wild abandon.

Childhood dreams and fancies
are now sealed tight;  unused,
forgotten; hidden from our sight

And I…
I still search for the key.

Hanging

Sometimes the
  woulda
            coulda
                        shouldas
the
     what ifs
            and the maybes

are left to dangle

as sentence awaits
one final punctuation.

Becoming

darkness into light
not death, but transformation
life’s circle complete

Bending light and shadow
elevated to sanguine plateau
closing old for new;
over medial plains, I pass.
Mourn not this loss—
I spread these eager wings,
no longer constrained;
girded in peace, I fly!
