Red Spot II, Wallisy Kandinsky
Divided between worlds,
I find myself in pieces.
So many paths…
choices, possibilities; even
otherworldly options--
no guideline which to take.
Negative images darken peripherals
elicit emptiness, imminent doom.
Contrary, life looms bright.
Time distances itself…as
each day I find myself a little more

Boris Hopek's Tokyo Exhibit:"Ever"

Unhook…unclip…while slow we slip and sway;
dispense pretense; begin the dance risqué.
Soft breaths imply...intensify…convey…
igniting heat, scent moist and sweet; replay.

Caress, digress; find youthful lust astray--
no rings, no strings to hinder this ballet.
We feed the need and shun the roles we play;
adrift to sift the remnants of that day.

Written for d'Verse Poets Pub Meeting the Bar "Imagism" 1/19/2012

Swift silent glide through backyard
to light on lavender buddleia.

Pale lemon trimmed in ebony
touched with sapphire, her

wings pulse softly, finding
balance against breeze;

extends proboscis straw, sips delicately,
finding succor in sweet nectar.

Common yellow swallowtail
graces with her beauty.

Evening calls to silhouette sentries,
rainslick roads swift-swallow sound;
lifeblood weeps to parch-dry ground,
while ravens silent-watch from trees.

The banshee wails on late-night roam;
then piece-by-piece, they carry me home.

"All Around Wonderful" Blog Recognition

Honored to be recognized by Michelle at All Around Wonderful
for my poetry blog, and would like to thank my friend Susie Clevenger for nominating me.

Michelle asks that I share three blogs that I feel are "wonderful" to receive this award.Very difficult, as I follow some really amazing poets, writers, and photographers, but here are three of the many wonderful blogs that I follow! (Okay, technically 4 blogs, yes, but 3 bloggers!)

Weaving her poetry with beautiful words, wonderful metaphor,
and a wee bit of humor!

Appetite for Words: Observing the everyday in his own unique way.
 Appetite for Photos: a collection of nature, scenics, black and whites,
and historical photographs. Previously published in Vermont Life,
Yankee magazine, and Seacoast Life, to name a few.

Margaret's keen eye for beauty is seen in her wonderful photography,
and in the words she chooses to express her poetry.

On Building Walls…

Smiling fortitudinous,
the wall goes up

Rebuking family;
obscured in chosen oblivion...
Soul saved; who saves
the rest, my sister-friend?

Why don’t you fight?

Are we selfish to want you to stay,
or you, in giving up so easily?

We ache, knowing inevitable destiny

…as you smile behind your wall.

Lost in the shuffle,
it’s not worth the scuffle
to fight to the surface for air…
I drown in indifference
with barely a small hint
that anyone here really cares.
Bottle these feelings
until I am reeling --
pretend everything’s what it should be.
Won’t take the bait but
am starting to hate this --
feel like I’m no longer me.

Baubles plucked from conifer
brittle memories carefully
wrapped in tissue,
packed away; forgotten

remnants, another year

as outdoors-in leaves once again.

of darkcloud skies,
and snowpack earth

leave me
unwrapped; empty
as the cardboard at the curb.

Fractured Fairy Tale

Once upon a time…

I was a different person--

people change.

Have seen
killing without purpose;
women and children
bruised, abused; teens
abducted, raped,
murdered; wars fought
not over genocide or
starvation, but  some
political pundit’s gain.

Have known
those feigning kindness
and good-will.
Dangerous, they are…
because they act
and look like you
and me.

Have been
stepped on,
passed over,
lied to,

enough shit for one lifetime.

Some days I wish I could go back.
Too much has changed…

especially me.

Ignoring the Current

The fog slips heavy through the hills
Image: Moevs, Marina River
creeps slowly ‘cross the valley floor
Peaceable river gently flows,
mirror meandering through the woods
Reminds me of you, once more.

Like river, we skirt certain issues
that nobody else seems to see;
disguised like the fog, in thick camouflage,
burying feelings, burying thoughts
as current turns past, silently

Love Undying

He comes to visit each day,
reminding us as he enters that he’ll
be taking her home as soon as she’s
better, as soon as she’s stronger;
his dear sweet wife.

He lives for this woman, now mute
regressed in her memory--
holding tightly to a baby doll
perhaps for comfort, or perhaps
lost in vision of childhood
long past.

He gently wheels her through the halls
as though on some grand tour--
then he sits on the sofa in the hall
and lovingly clasps her pale parchment hand.
Talking softly, he asks

“Do you know what day today is?
It’s New Years eve day”

........“Can you hear me?”

........“Do you know who I am?”

and I wonder …

When I am old and lost in my thoughts
will someone come to see me each day,
gently take me by the hand--
and quietly remind me who I am?

Interview: Blue Bell Books Week 18 Meet the Writers

I am a regular contributor to BlueBell Books Thursday Short Story Slam, and last Fall they kindly asked me to interview for them. When originally asked, I had understood this was to be posted around 1/6, so much to my chagrin (and embarrassment for missing this!) have discovered it was actually posted in November, boy is my face red!! Just wanted to share the link here for my friends and followers. And want to thank BlueBell Books for honoring me with this interview!!
