Ignoring the Current

The fog slips heavy through the hills
Image: Moevs, Marina River
creeps slowly ‘cross the valley floor
Peaceable river gently flows,
mirror meandering through the woods
Reminds me of you, once more.

Like river, we skirt certain issues
that nobody else seems to see;
disguised like the fog, in thick camouflage,
burying feelings, burying thoughts
as current turns past, silently

  1. slips, creeps, flows, meandering, skirts, turns

    This really has a lovely flow - and with all that movement you end it with "silently." Beautiful.

  12. Ginny,
    This has a very nice lyric flow... a melancholic sense at the end without over-sentimentality or melodrama. This is a fine job of writing.

  13. Current turns past- very nice play on words- but actually a really meaningful piece about how on the surface the river (life) can look beautiful and serene in its surroundings, but that actually the river always runs deep. I guess what counts is if your strong enough to swim against the current

  15. Like the switch halfway through from the natural to the intimate. The last line was well crafted.

  19. This composition engenders private reflection, the not-so-still waters of your river running deep.
